Scottish rider making waves in the Western world

Olivia Lochhead from North Berwick recently became the Bronze European Champion in Junior Ranch Riding (horses under 5) at the FEQHA European Championships on White Faced N Blazin.

Olivia last year represented the AQHA UK Youth Team in the AQHA Youth World Cup Australia and a year later has achieved an outstanding success in her first European Championships as an Open Rider.

The FEQHA is the European equivalent to the AQHA World Show and sees the top riders across Europe come together to compete in the range of western disciplines. To have achieved such a result in her first European Championships on a young horse she trained herself was no mean feat in a very tough competitive field.

Olivia who has ridden western on quarter horses since she was 12, chose to defer her university career to pursue training for the World Cup,  but since that experience was given the opportunity to become the Assistant Trainer at Sovereign Quarter Horses in Cambridgeshire training and competing horses for David Deptford, the biggest breeder of  Quarter Horses in the UK. Olivia was competing White Faced N Blazin’ – otherwise known as Red at home.
