Alister Hippisley-Gatherum takes top spot in the SEIB Winter Novice Qualifier at Northcote Stud

SHOWJUMPING: Alister Hippisley-Gatherum delivered an unbeatable performance to claim top spot in the first SEIB Winter Novice Qualifier of the season at Northcote Stud in Lancashire.

With only two qualification places on offer for the Championship at the RIHS at Hickstead next summer, the sixty-five combinations that came forwards made sure this was a highly competitive class. The first round produced eighteen clears which left spectators with a nail biting jump-off in which nine double clears were posted before the all-important clock decided the winner.

Alister Hippisley-Gatherum from St Andrew’s Fife, was riding, G-Star, his own 6 year-old bay gelding, had speed on their side in the first round and after eyeing up the competition, went on to deliver a foot perfect round in the jump off shaving 1.62 seconds off their nearest rival’s time.

Second place went to Claire Shepherd from Manchester riding her own and Angela Nuttall’s 6 year-old grey gelding, Millfield Kaiser.
