Fife rider celebrates qualifier success at Bury Farm Equestrian Village

Fife’s Fraser Reed celebrates success in the Charles Britton Equestrian Construction Winter JA Classic Qualifiers at Bury Farm Equestrian Village

 

Seasoned Winter JA Classic competitor Fraser Reed, aged 15, made the journey from St. Andrews, Fife worthwhile once again when he rode Barrie Truelove’s 16-year-old bay mare Quilitymaes Z straight into first place in the final Charles Britton Equestrian Construction Winter JA Classic Qualifiers which took place over the weekend (12th March) at Bury Farm Equestrian Village in Buckinghamshire . Against a strong field, this pair used their final draw to full advantage, becoming one of five to jump through to the second round. They produced another clear for a spot in the jump off before going on to secure the only treble clear of the class in 44.51 seconds.

Forty-three hopefuls had started in the tense battle to claim one of the final qualification spots on offer for the prestigious Charles Britton Equestrian Construction Winter JA Classic Championship, which will be held during the British Masters International Horse Show, at South View Equestrian Centre (30th June – 2nd July 2017).

Taking second place was 13-year-old Oliver Fletcher from Faringdon, Oxfordshire riding The Bobster, a 9-year-old bay gelding owned by his father, Graham Fletcher. This pair posted a quick time of 43.40 seconds and finished with 4 faults.

Fourteen year-old Faye Sutton from Whitchurch, Shropshire was another quick challenger on board Robe Ruadh, a 13-year-old dun gelding owned by Jacqueline Sutton. This combination crossed the finish line with 4 faults in 43.68 seconds and took 3rd.

Hannah Barker also collected a qualifier win over the weekend.
