Join the Cavalry at Battle of Waterloo commemoration
Horses and riders are being invited to join a special celebration in the Scottish Borders to mark the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo.
Scotland’s part in the significant moment in European history will be recognised at Penielheugh on 28 June.
Battle re-enactments, a cavalry charge, marching and pipe bands and beating of the retreat are some of the attractions scheduled for Penielheugh 200.

Join Wellington (Borders Olympian Ian Stark) and the Jethart Callant and be part of the historical reenactment at Penielheugh.
Organisers promise a beautiful ride that is not too strenuous but will be a great spectacle
Riders to muster by 2pm at Monteviot where they will be issued with Colours of the Wellington supporters. At 2.45pm the cavalcade will be led up to the top of Penielheugh to meet with ‘Wellington’and show strength of support against Napoleon’s forces.
