Podium places for Wee County Vaulters


Wee County Vaulters hosted the first British Equestrian Vaulting Selection event at the SNEC Ecclesmachan recently. Over 100 vaulters from throughout Britain attended the event. Judges for the competition came from Germany, Sweden Wales and Scotland.

Members of Wee County Vaulters achieved podium places in several classes. The Junior team class was won by Wee County vaulting on W.H.Bentley lunged by Hannah Eccles. The team consisted of Harry Cox, Joanne Drysdale, Lisa Mercer, Mhairi Hume, Lucy Taylor and Katie Henderson.

The Senior team class was won by the Scottish Equestrian vaulting team vaulting on Tylers Kernel lunged by John Eccles. This team was made up of six members from Wee County: Andrew McLachlan, Rebecca Norval, Hannah Young, Lisa Mercer, Joanne Wilson and Kerri Brylka. Success continued in the Pas de deux class with Andrew and Rebecca taking first place vaulting on Captain Jack lunged by John Eccles. This was Captain Jack’s first vaulting competition.

The Individual female child competition was won by Kerri Brylka vaulting on W.H.Bentley lunged by Hannah Eccles.  Mhairi Hume placed 5th vaulting on Captain Jack.

In the Individual Junior male competition Harry Cox placed first vaulting on Tylers Kernel lunged by Amanda McLachlan. Lisa Mercer took fifth place in the Junior female competition also vaulting on Tylers Kernel. Joanne Eccles won the Senior Female Non Selection class vaulting on Captain Jack. Hannah Eccles was the winner of the Senior Female Selection class with Hannah Young taking third place. Both girls vaulted on W.H.Bentley. Rebecca Norval on Tylers Kernel was fifth.

The club also achieved success in several of the walk classes. Sally Henderson placed third in the under 9 class. Bryony Rawding was first in the 13+ class with Aimee Roberts third. In the walk pairs section A class, Clara Joyce and Ferne Smith placed third. The Wee County Walk Team of Bryony, Sophie Wilson, Clara, Ferne, Aimee and Katie took first place with the Wee County Walk Team of Harry, Joanne, Lucy, Katie, Mhairi and Kerri taking fourth.
