Horsescotland Performance Squad member, Robyn Smith (19) from East Kilbride, has been selected onto the British Young Rider Dressage Team for this year’s European Championships at Vidauban, France (1 – 5 July).
Robyn will be riding Foold Uz – known in the stable as Spencer – an experienced 17-year-old, owned by Robyn’s mum Gail Smith who rode and produced Spencer until a few years ago when Robyn took over the ride. Still based at home she trains with her mum, making it a real family project.

Robyn said: “I am delighted I have been selected for the 2015 European Dressage Championships in France. I feel very privileged to be going and am so grateful to horsescotland, my wonderful sponsors and especially my family for all of the support and hard work we have put in as a team.
“Also, I can’t forget the wonderful Spenny who has done his absolute best for me all year; he really is one of a kind.”
‘We are delighted that Robyn’s dedication, commitment to the programme and drive to succeed at international level is now being realised’
Robyn has been a member of the horsescotland Performance Squad since she was just 12-years-old. Now she is looking forward to the build up to and the European Championship itself and will be writing a blog for horsescotland about how she is getting on. She will be starting university in September and will be balancing studying full-time with riding.
Billy Bell, horsescotland Chief Operating Officer, added: “This is fantastic news; we are delighted that all her hard work has paid off and we wish her every success at this event. Robyn is a member of the horsescotland Performance Squad and we are delighted that her dedication, commitment to the programme and drive to succeed at international level is now being realised.”
All riders, including reserves, will attended a pre-European team camp at Kilbees Farm in Berkshire this weekend (13 – 14 June).
